The Architecture of the Overcoat: Bandhgala to Daura
Most Western overcoats rely on rigid canvas interfacings and padded shoulders to create an artificial silhouette. In designing the Bandhgala Overcoat and Daura-Suruwal Jacket, we looked instead to South Asian and Himalayan tailoring traditions. Here, the structure comes from the natural drape of unbroken wool suiting and the clean geometry of an asymmetric wrap closure. The result is a coat that commands authority whether walking Greene Street in New York, Saint-Germain in Paris, or Lakeside in Pokhara.
